Our members are rural emergency clinicians and researchers working across Australia and New Zealand. Our network includes emergency physicians, rural generalists, paediatricians, nurses, and researchers from diverse backgrounds.
Meet Some of Our Members
Below are some of our inaugural members, representing a variety of rural emergency care backgrounds.
Dr. Bridget Honan, Emergency Physician and Researcher
Bridget Honan is a FACEM working in Grafton Emergency Department, NSW (MM3), providing phone support to Maclean Hospital (MM5). She is involved in pre-hospital and retrieval medicine and works in telehealth for Alice Springs, NT (MM6). Her research focuses on retrieval medicine, research prioritisation, and improving emergency care in rural and remote settings.
Dr. Tahnee Dunlop, Emergency Physician and Researcher
Tahnee Dunlop is a FACEM at South West Healthcare, Warrnambool (MM3), Victoria, and a researcher at Deakin University’s Centre for Rural Emergency Medicine. She lives in the rural community she serves, focusing on improving emergency care models in regional settings.
Dr. Tim Baker, Emergency Physician and Researcher
Tim Baker is a FACEM with two decades of clinical experience across MM3, MM4, and MM7. He is the Director of the Deakin Centre for Rural Emergency Medicine and conducts research on healthcare systems and clinical education. Born and currently living in MM5, he is committed to strengthening rural emergency medicine.
Dr. Rory Miller, Rural Generalist and Researcher
Rory Miller is a rural hospital doctor at Thames Hospital, Hauraki/Te Manawa Taki region (GCH R2), working across ward and emergency departments. He is also the Director of the Rural Postgraduate Programme at the University of Otago, leading research on rural hospital medicine, workforce development, and postgraduate medical education. He lives in Whangamatā (R2), part of Thames Hospital’s catchment area.
Jenna Lee McKenzie, Medical Student and Registered Nurse
Jenna Lee McKenzie is a 2nd-year medical student at Deakin University, Warrnambool (MM3) and a registered nurse at Terang Hospital (MM5), working in urgent care and acute medicine. She also volunteers with St John Ambulance in Warrnambool (MM3) and lives full-time in Warrnambool, VIC (MM3).
