Deakin University’s Centre for Rural Emergency Medicine (CREM) is a joint initiative between the Department of Health, Alcoa of Australia, Portland District Health, South West Healthcare (Warrnambool) and the Deakin Medical School.
The partnership signifies Alcoa’s commitment to South West Victoria by supporting a sustainable solution to the provision of long-term health services in the region.
CREM has close ties with the Barwon South West region of the Department of Health. They have worked together to address a number of issues.
South West Healthcare and Portland District Health directly support the Centre. The Director of CREM has a joint appointment at both health services. In return, many clinical initiatives of CREM are first introduced to those Emergency Departments.
